Honoring veterans of

World War I - World War II -

Korean War - Vietnam War - Desert Storm - Operation Iraqi Freedom

In the museum section of Conecuh River Depot, you’ll find original items and memorabilia from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom

Besides United States military uniforms and memorabilia, the museum contains German Nazi items brought back from Europe in 1945, as well as North Vietnam Army and Viet Cong items from the Vietnam War. Also displayed are items from the South Vietnamese army (ARVN), and the Montagnard tribal peoples of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. I have just added a number of items to my Korean War display, including a Communist Chinese uniform. I've expanded to Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and have added a number of captured items for those periods.

Many of the WWII items were brought back by my father, an infantry officer in HQ, III Corps, European Theater. Most of the Vietnam memorabilia on display was obtained from Vietnam veterans. As for me, I entered active military service in early 1962. Although I tried to arrange an army-provided tour to Southeast Asia, the government chose not to comply. I spent time at Ft. Jackson, SC, Ft. Benning, GA, and HQ, Third Army at Ft. McPherson, GA.  In 1966, I began a long career in law enforcement. My continuing respect for our country's combat veterans led to the creation of this museum, for I believe our country's combat veterans are the true heroes of their respective generations.

Conecuh River Depot is designed to give the public a visual display of items worn or utilized during the period of World War I to Operation Iraqi Freedom, and to serve as a memorial to the sacrifices made by all American veterans, and our Allies. I am adding additional items on a regular basis, so check back again when you're in the Troy area.

My extensive collection of War Between the States and Spanish-American War items is on display next door in the Pioneer Museum of Alabama. So, when you come to Conecuh River Depot, also plan to visit the Pioneer Museum.
